ARRIVE Phoenix Opens Labor Day weekend
by AZ Big Media
Now accepting reservations, and featuring high-tech safety protocols, ARRIVE Phoenix invites visitors and locals alike to explore its gorgeous open-air design and gracious home-grown hospitality when Uptown Phoenix’s first-ever neighborhood hotel opens this September. Scheduled to greet its first guests on Friday, September 4 — who will enjoy exclusive pre-opening rates starting at $139 — ARRIVE Phoenix is an all-new 79-room, $25M boutique hotel spanning two restored mid-century modern towers at Camelback Road and 4th Avenue (400 W. Camelback).
Opening in two phases, starting on Sept. 4 guests at this hotel will be able to check in at the colorful Pop Stand, a handcrafted popsicle shop that doubles as the registration desk, plus enjoy the onsite Cartel Coffee Lab or lounge around the Lylo Swim Club. Then on Nov. 15, the second guestroom tower featuring the Don Woods’ Say When rooftop bar is scheduled to open.
Of course, the world has changed since ARRIVE Phoenix kicked off construction more than a year ago, but guests can rest assured that every step has been taken to ensure their safety, says ARRIVE Hotels & Restaurants CEO and Co-Founder, Matt Steinberg. “From touchless on-site payments, to sanitized and pre-bagged linens and bathrobes, every aspect of the guest experience has been thoughtfully redesigned for today’s hospitality world.” This includes the use of Hospital-Grade Electrostatic Disinfection machines utilizing a non-toxic disinfectant solution (the same technology deployed in hospitals) to sanitize guestrooms before and after any staff member enters the room. Plus, guests will be required to wear masks in all public areas. Read more about ARRIVE’s leading edge COVID19 protocols here: https://arrivehotels.com/home/covid-19-response/
As part of that mission to welcome people to the neighborhood, ARRIVE has partnered with Great Minds Drink Alike, the hospitality company known for globally-recognized local favorites, Bitter & Twisted Cocktail Parlour and Little Rituals, to create Lylo Swim Club, a standout poolside bar and restaurant to anchor the hotel. ARRIVE also collaborated with top local artists and designers such as ModFire, Slabhaus and Urban Plough to put a stylish, uniquely Phoenix twist on this boutique property.
…
“Phoenix’s world-class dining and drinking scenes and vibrant arts and design community is what drew us to Uptown in the first place,” says ARRIVE’s Co-Founder & Chief Development Officer, Chris Pardo. “So we’re proud to have partnered with top local artisans to make ARRIVE Phoenix part of the local, cultural fabric, right down to the rooftop lounge named after a famed former tenant of these very buildings, Don Woods’ Say When.”
Designed to feel a little like home, a little like vacation, every ARRIVE Phoenix hotel room boasts king beds with 100% Egyptian cotton linens and a striking and spacious tile shower with imported Tyneham bath products. Additional locally-crafted touches include custom vanities and wardrobes by Urban Plough, concrete sinks by Slabhaus and stylish, mid-century-inspired fireplaces by Modfire in select rooms. A record collection curated by local institution Stinkweeds is available for guests to cue up on their in-room record player.
ARRIVE Phoenix also features on-site dining, drinks and amenities such as …
The Pop Stand (opening Sept. 4)
Paying homage to the team’s favorite Mexican paleterías, the ARRIVE popsicle stand is the starting point for an ARRIVE escape. Hotel guests will enjoy a welcoming gift of handcrafted paletas-style popsicles while completing their check-in process. Guests will feel like kids in a candy shop as they choose from an ever-changing menu made from fresh fruit, luxurious cream and even your favorite booze, such as strawberries con crema, chile mango, pink lemonade, and frozen margarita.
Cartel Uptown Phoenix (opening Sept. 4)
Cartel Coffee Lab’s Cartel Uptown Phoenix will be the boutique roaster’s first central Phoenix location, housed in a sleek 600 sq. ft. space fronting Camelback Road. The location marks the third collaboration with ARRIVE, with locations also at ARRIVE Palm Springs and ARRIVE Austin. Offering fresh baked goodies and grab-and-go meals, Cartel Uptown Phoenix will offer their full coffee program, complete with single origin beans, canned cold brew, plus the classic six-ounce cappuccino, which allows aficionados to experience and appreciate espresso and milk in perfect balance.
Lylo Swim Club (opening Sept. 4)
Elevated cocktails in a pool bar setting is an elusive balance often lost to loud music, watery drinks and light beer. Enter Lylo Swim Club, a stunning mid-century style poolside bar led by Scottish born, now local cocktail guru Ross Simon of Great Minds Drink Alike, known best for his globally-awarded and recognized cocktail bars Bitter & Twisted Cocktail Parlour and Little Rituals. Pronounced ‘lie-low’ (a UK term for a pool float), Lylo tempts with delicious, balanced and refreshing cocktails enhancing its pool setting, with craft cocktails such as rotating sorbet bellinis, fresh fruit Caipirinhas and other reworked poolside favorites, like a rum-spiked version of the classic Dole Whip frozen pineapple drink. Rounded out with a thirst-quenching selection of canned craft beers and wines, the 15-item drink list will be enjoyed poolside by the bar or in the social-distancing-friendly cabana service. The program will be served with eco-conscious thoughtfulness, including colorful plush acrylic drinkware & small compostable wares.
Open daily to guests and locals, Lylo also features an all-day menu of light, Hawaiian-Japanese influenced bites, such as made-to-order musubi, stunning poke bowls and Japanese-style fried chicken. Led by ARRIVE’s Director of Restaurants, Alex Resnick, a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America who previously worked with “Top Chef Masters” winner Chris Cosentino and boasts stints at Bazaar by Jose Andres and Red Medicine with Jordan Kahn (currently chef/owner of Vespertine and Destroyer in LA), Lylo’s menu features a unique style of Hawaiian-style fried chicken. “Called mochiko fried chicken, it’s marinated in ginger, sesame and soy sauce, and fried using sweet rice flour which is where the name comes from. I can’t wait for people to try it with Hawaiian staples like mac salad,” Resnick says. “It’s classic beer-drinking food that’s basically heaven in a bucket.”
Don Woods’ Say When (Opening Nov. 15)
History recreated, not reimagined. This is the ethos of ARRIVE’s bon vivant-style penthouse cocktail lounge, informed by the 1970s classic entertaining tome, “Playboy’s Host & Bar Book,” a long-lost guide to exceptional entertaining. Open the book to the aptly titled chapter “Say When,” and you’ll find every recipe and every touch recreated here, offering a true step back to the ’60s and ’70s with retro-modern cocktails and throwback bar bites such as Fondue for Two or Chilled Shrimp Cocktail and chef-crafted canapes. As for Don Woods? A longtime Arizona real estate developer active in the 1950s and beyond, Don held an office inside the building for decades, and the bar is a tribute to his work and his legacy in Arizona. Truly the only thing to change is the skyline, as viewed from the bar’s perch offering 270-degree city views.
